Testing with a CDL Third Party Tester
A "Third Party Tester" is an individual or company who has been issued a Third Party Tester Certificate by DMV. A Third Party Tester can conduct the actual drive test for a Class A, B, or C Commercial Driver License (CDL) in lieu of DMV conducting the drive test.
 
Prior to scheduling a CDL drive test with a Third Party Tester you will need the following:
A fee will be charged by the Third Party Tester for their services (this fee is not established by DMV). Prior to issuance of your CDL you will need to pay an additional $40 CDL Certificate of Test Completion fee and an issuance fee to DMV.
 
With limited exceptions, tests with Third Party Testers must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.
