Redbud Reservoir Beech River Watershed Development Authority Land Request

Henderson County, Tennessee

In 1963, TVA entered into a contractual agreement with Beech River Watershed Development Authority (BRWDA) to cooperate in the management and financing of a water control system to provide for future regional development in the Beech River area. BRWDA, which oversees the economic growth of the area, and TVA have worked together since 1963 to implement the contract and achieve operating plan objectives of flood control, recreation, and economic development in the Beech River watershed.

BRWDA has requested that TVA sell 71 acres of TVA land adjacent to Redbud Reservoir in Henderson County, Tennessee, for the development of a 61-lot residential community. TVA has prepared a draft environmental assessment (DEA), which explains how the previously executed agreement between TVA and this development agency conforms to the stipulations of the TVA Land Policy. Under the proposed action, BRWDA would act as TVA’s agent in the sale of the affected property at public auction in accordance with Section 31 of the TVA Act.

TVA invites your comments on the DEA. Please submit your comments by October 29, 2008. Instructions for submitting comments are described below.
