"Bandits" soon to captivate Oregon audiences

Less than a year ago, the Oregon connection to Hollywood sizzled with the news that the major motion picture “Bandits” would be filmed locally, thanks to a coup by the Oregon Film and Video Office in securing Oregon State Penitentiary as a pivotal location.

With the nationwide premier of the feature film “Bandits” only ten days away, you can rekindle that excitement - the Oregon Department of Corrections is providing access to the location of the fictitious breakout as well as key players to interview.

To spark your interest, potential interview topics might include:

Joan Palmateer, superintendent: How was the prison secured during filming? Why couldn’t this happen in real life? How did you handle the logistics of accommodating a film crew in a maximum-security penitentiary?

Dave Cook, corrections director: What convinced you to give the project a green light? How was this good for the state? Why is corrections so different here in Oregon?

Inmate Extras (180 inmates participated): What was it like to be in a movie? Did you meet Bruce Willis or Billy Bob Thornton? How were you selected?

Real prison, real inmates, really good movie - To pursue this unusual angle, see our contact information below.
