FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Oregon Department of Corrections recently held its annual statewide awards ceremony in Salem.  Recognition was given to the following Community Corrections staff who received the Director’s Award for their contributions to the Department.

Scott Taylor, Chief of Community Corrections, worked through the most recent series of opt outs with Douglas and Linn counties.  Corrections Director Max Williams praised Mr. Taylor’s commitment to the Department and his relationships with the communities, which brought about a seamless transition for these counties.

Director Williams noted that Linn County Community Corrections Director Rick Bergey and Douglas County Community Corrections Director Mark Cadotte have worked to maintain the local relationships necessary to meet both the Department’s goals and those of their communities.  They are each responsible for the management of more than 1,000 convicted felons and the logistics of managing them in counties where the majority of resources are run by the county.

The director recognized Scott Taylor, along with Mr. Bergey and Mr. Cadotte, as being the reason that our transition to state control has gone so smoothly in both counties.
