GOV. RITTER APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO KEY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS 

 

Gov. Bill Ritter today announced the appointments of numerous Coloradans to several important boards and commissions. Among the appointments announced today:

 

Renewable Energy Authority Board of Directors (for terms expiring July 1, 2011)

Don Elliman, director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development

Kimberley Jordan, CEO of New Belgium Brewing Co.

 

The authority will direct state matching funds to the Collaboratory, which consists of the Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Colorado State University, the University of Colorado and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The authority will promote the rapid transfer of new technologies developed by the Collaboratory to the marketplace; develop educational and research programs that will translate into high-tech jobs; and become a regional resource and clearinghouse for renewable energy information.

 

State Board of Land Commissioners

Thomas R. Hoyt of Boulder (for a term expiring June 30, 2009)

Michele A. Bloom of Centennial (for a term expiring (June 30, 2011)

Custer County Commission Chairman Richard L. Downey of Westcliffe (for a term expiring June 30, 2011)

 

The board is responsible for the direction, control, and disposition of state public lands.

 

State Board of Veterinary Medicine (for terms expiring June 30, 2011)

Kim Stone of Denver

Michael Gotchey of Steamboat Springs

 

Task Force on Foster Care and Permanence (for a term expiring July 1, 2008)

Jeremiah "Jay" White of Lakewood

 

The task force examines child foster care and adoption systems in the state and will recommend solutions to the problems in the system to the governor, chief justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, and the Judiciary and Health and Human Services Committees of the Senate and the House by May 31, 2008.
