The Office of English Language Programs does not engage in the recruitment or hire of English language teachers or administrators other than for certain Department of State exchange programs.

• Opportunities for teaching English abroad — a list of organizations which can provide information on teaching overseas

• English language programs abroad — a list of Binational Centers, and American Embassy English Teaching Programs. If you are interested in teaching in one of these programs, you should contact the program directly at the address provided.

Opportunities for teaching English abroad

A number of organizations and school systems recruit and employ U.S. Citizens for English teaching positions in foreign countries. The organizations listed below can provide information about opportunities to teach abroad at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. Please contact these agencies directly for specific information about programs they administer.

Many countries recruit educators through their embassies in Washington, D.C. If you wish to teach in a specific country, you may find it useful to contact the educational officer of the foreign embassy.
