summer fire fighting positions, start applying in January as most
jobs are filled by April. If interested, contact your local National
Forest Fire Organization.
Air Quality
The Utah Division of Air Quality has a new website
on the health impacts of forest fire smoke.
Fire Business Management
A Fire Business Management Working Committee develops Interagency
guidelines and procedures, which are in line with MOU's and other
federal and state agreements, for emergency incidents within the
Rocky Mountain/Great Basin area.
Hazardous Fuels Reduction
What is Hazardous Fuels Reduction?
Hazardous fuels are overgrown shrubs,
grasses and dead or downed trees that can lead to more
intense wildland fires. Hazardous fuels reduction is
a program that allows managers to cooperate with states,
counties and other federal agencies to reduce the risk
of uncharacteristic wildland fires in the wildland urban
interface, where homes meet the forest.
