GOV. RITTER, MAYOR HICKENLOOPER VISIT SET OF EDDIE MURPHY FILM
Gov. Bill Ritter, Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien, Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper today visited the set of "Nowhereland," the Eddie Murphy comedy being filmed around Denver this month. Today's shoot was filmed at the Brown Palace Hotel.
The film's producer, Paramount Pictures, expects to spend about $3.25 million in the metro area during the 12-day shoot, which wraps up at the end of this week. Paramount has hired about 1,200 local residents as extras and booked 2,000 hotel-room nights.
"This was a tremendous economic shot in the arm for Denver and for Colorado," Gov. Ritter said. "I look forward to working with Mayor Hickenlooper, the legislature and the Colorado Film Commission to showcase all that we have to offer the film industry in the future."
