Recreational Activities

A variety of landscape settings and a wide range of recreation opportunities and activities await your visit to the Olympic Peninsula.  The Peninsula features over 2,132,300 acres of public federal lands for visitors to enjoy. Of this area, Olympic National Forest consists of over 633,600 acres and is managed by the United States Forest Service.  The National Forest blankets the foothills of the Olympic Mountains and surrounds much of Olympic National Park. In addition to the federal land on the Peninsula, there are recreation opportunities offered on state, county and private lands as well.

It is important for visitors to know which agency manages the site or lands they plan to visit because opportunities and regulations differ from one agency to another.

The general information needed to plan your visit to Olympic National Forest is available on this website. To get more detailed information, you may wish to contact any of the Olympic National Forest offices.  For phone numbers and addresses see "Office Locations and Hours".
