Chiloquin Ranger District:
Modoc Point Fuel Reduction

The fuel reduction needs of approximately 1396 acres of the Chiloquin Ranger District were examined in the Modoc Point Fuel Reduction Project Area. It is located adjacent to a parcel of private land in the southwest corner of the Chiloquin District. There have been numerous fires that have started along Highway 97 and burned uphill, threatening the forested District land on top of the ridge and private lands surrounded by federal land. The project was initiated to address concerns of the private landowners, who felt their land and timber were threatened by the fuel conditions on adjacent Forest Service land.
