Chemult Ranger District: Miller Lake Lamprey Barrier Removal Project
The project would remove a barrier originally created to prevent re-establishment of lamprey in Miller Lake. The barrier was constructed by the State of Oregon Game Commission in 1959 at the upstream extent of a cascade in Miller Creek approximately 1/2 mile downstream from the outlet of Miller Lake. The barrier consists of a low stonework dam (about 2 feet high) constructed of mortared native rocks with a metal plate and lip bolted on top. The current condition of the concrete and rock structure is substantially deteriorated. The structure would be removed using hand tools.
