While the northeastern U.S. was preparing for a major snowstorm, northeastern China was having yet another major dust storm as can be seen in this SeaWiFS image of the area collected on March 5, 2001. The heaviest visible concentrations of dust are between the Bohai Sea and the Mongolian border. At the southern end of the image, the brown and then green water in the Yangtze River plume stretches across the East China Sea.
