Evaluation of a Standards Harmonization Process for Health Information Technology

On June 6, 2005, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a request for proposals (RFPs) to develop, create prototypes for, and evaluate a process to unify and harmonize industry-wide health IT standards development, maintenance and refinements over time.

HHS seeks proposals to contract with a not-for-profit, private sector, multi-stakeholder group to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a process to harmonize standards to support widespread interoperability among healthcare software applications, particularly electronic health record systems.

The deadline for submitting proposals for this solicitation was July 7, 2005. For reference purposes, a copy of the "Evaluation of a Standards Harmonization Process for Health Information Technology" solicitation is available through FedBizOpps.Gov at http://www.eps.gov/spg/HHS/PSC/DAM/Reference%2DNumber%2DONCHIT%2D1/listing.html.
