2008 Food Sanitation Awards
The City of Garland Health Department is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Food Sanitation Excellence Awards.  These winners scored in the top five percent of their class on unannounced food service inspections during the previous year.  In addition to receiving an award certificate to display for one year, each establishment will have its annual permit fee (from $200 to $400) waived for 2009.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program
The City of Garland is eligible to receive $2,040,196 in funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds are considered additional 2008 entitlement funds for the Community Development Block Grant.

Garland Celebrates Top 100 Ranking
CNN and Money Magazine just released their list of the Top 100 Places to Live, which includes Garland at number 67.  The city’s comfortable, hometown feel in the midst of a thriving metropolitan area was just one of the outstanding characteristics mentioned in the report.
