Breast Cancer
Frequently Asked Questions
23. Are there any treatments that follow
surgery?
Even if the surgeon removes all of the cancer that can be seen at
the time of surgery, a woman may still receive follow-up treatment.
This may include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or hormone
therapy to try to kill any cancer cells that may be left. Treatment
that a patient receives after surgery to increase the chances of a
cure is called adjuvant therapy.
