(MMWR, April 11, 2003) - Public Health Privacy Presentation
This PowerPoint slide presentation addresses the implications of the HIPAA privacy rule on public health practice. The content has been approved by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). - North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) (exit)
The NAACCR has developed materials to assist central cancer registries and cancer reporting entities in assuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations. These include a letter from NAACCR legal counsel and an in-depth, academic interpretation of the impact of the regulation on cancer incidence reporting to central cancer registries. Since immunization information systems (IIS) must address many of the same privacy issues as cancer registries, these documents may be an important resource for IIS projects.
