Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS)

Introduction

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC's) Office on Smoking and Health developed the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) to track tobacco use among young people across countries using a common methodology and core questionnaire. The GYTS surveillance system is intended to enhance the capacity of countries to design, implement, and evaluate tobacco control and prevention programs. Funding for the GYTS has been provided by the Canadian Public Health Association, National Cancer Institute, United Nations Children Emergency Fund, and World Health Organization—Tobacco Free Initiative.
