National Coalition of STD Directors*

 

NCSD represents the 65 directors of public health STD prevention programs in U.S. states, large cities/counties, and territories. NCSD provides valuable leadership for strengthening STD prevention programs by advocating for effective policies, strategies, and sufficient resources and by increasing awareness of the medical and social impacts of these programs.

NCSD's Program in Action

NCSD is funded to provide Capacity-Building Assistance for Preventing HIV Infections: State and Local Health Agencies.

  • Working with the National Stakeholders Collaborative (NSC) to plan and conduct a National Stakeholders Meeting (NSM) Reconvene to strengthen collaboration between state health and state education agencies to support and improve prevention of HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and unintended and teen pregnancy for youth. The NSC is comprised of the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP), and the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
     
  • Providing ongoing follow-up support and technical assistance to NSM participants to identify and overcome barriers to integrating programs and policies that help prevent HIV infection, STDs, and unintended and teen pregnancy.
     
  • Providing updates on DASH-related activities to NCSD Board of Directors through conference calls and to NCSD membership through Web site updates and newsletters.
     
  • Strengthening the capacity of tribal health educators, program managers, and clinicians to provide STD prevention services to the Northwest Tribes through the development, production, and dissemination of tribe-appropriate educational materials.
