Legal Issues Related to School Closures.* Public officials and others planning for an influenza pandemic must be aware of numerous practical and legal issues that could affect school districts and plan accordingly. The National School Boards Association's staff attorney developed a written overview of such considerations for the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Modeling Community Containment for Pandemic Influenza. The document discusses issues school districts could confront if schools were closed for up to three months during a pandemic.
