GSA's Dorris, Schobert Named to FCW's FED 100
GSA #10220 March 20, 2006 WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) associates Martha Dorris and Fred Schobert were recognized today as members of Federal Computer Week’s (FCW) “Federal 100” list for 2006. The Fed 100 recognizes government and industry personnel that make major contributions to the federal IT community. Martha Dorris, a two-time Fed 100 recipient, is Deputy Associate Administrator of the Office of Citizen Services. Fred Schobert is Director of Program Management and Technical Requirements for the Office of Service Development. Schobert also serves in the role of Networx Program Manager. “We are very proud of Martha and Fred for receiving this honor,” said GSA Acting Administrator David L. Bibb. “They have shown a great commitment to GSA and to public service. Everyone at the agency applauds them for this prestigious achievement.” Dorris was recognized by FCW for the leading role she played in several GSA efforts to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The GSA’s National Contact Center – at 1-800-FED-INFO – and USA Services handled more than 1.5 million inquiries during the hurricane recovery period, while FirstGov.gov, the federal government’s web portal, helped provide citizens with useful, updated news and contact information. Schobert was recognized by FCW for his leadership of the Networx program team in producing innovative and comprehensive Request for Proposals and in seeking industry feedback to continuously improve the government’s solicitation process. The Networx program will provide best-value telecommunications and networking to all federal agencies. He introduced an innovative web-based pricing model and created a network to protect private communications between the GSA and industry. Fed 100 candidates are nominated by the readers of FCW. An independent panel of judges selects winning employees from government and industry, and according to the judges, the winners were selected based on those “…who have played pivotal roles in the federal IT community.” Find more information at www.fcw.com. ### GSA is a centralized, federal procurement, property management, policy development and information provision agency, created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public.
