Healthy KidsDuval County Public Schools in Florida receives funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). Duval County Public Schools partners with the Duval County Health Department, the Jacksonville Children’s Commission, the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc., the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, and the University of Florida to administer the YRBS. The purpose of administering the YRBS is to collect and disseminate survey data from public school students in grades 6-12 in an effort to bring about communitywide awareness and monitor critical health-related behaviors among Jacksonville youth.

Conducting the Youth Risk Behavior Survey

  • Conducting training for school contacts on the administration of the YRBS according to CDC protocols.
     
  • Facilitating communication of the YRBS data through a variety of avenues including conferences, journal articles, presentations, and professional development opportunities.
     
  • Promoting the use of YRBS data to drive program planning and policy development.
