State Agencies Louisiana
Louisiana
receives funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to
provide HIV prevention education and conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey
(YRBS). With DASH funding, Louisiana seeks to strengthen partnerships with
key stakeholders involved in HIV prevention education and implement
strategies to address the needs of Louisiana youth disproportionately
affected by HIV infection.

Providing HIV
Prevention Education
- Sponsoring Louisiana’s Annual HIV/AIDS Program Conference.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders involved in HIV prevention
across the state to strengthen partnerships and enhance HIV prevention
program planning.
- Implementing strategies to address the needs of subpopulations
disproportionately affected by HIV infection, especially communities of
color.
Conducting the Youth Risk Behavior Survey
- Working with the Louisiana Office of Public Health to coordinate
youth surveys to improve data quality and reduce the survey burden on
schools.
- Conducting a promotional campaign for school principals, local
education agency superintendents, and health coordinators in each school
district in the state on the importance of the YRBS survey and the data
it provides.
- Providing technical assistance with school districts on program
planning and policy development.
