  How long does it take to get information about a relative?

  I requested a copy of a relative's Social Security number application a month ago and still have not received a response. When should I expect to hear from SSA?

You can normally expect a response in 4 to 6 weeks.

For information about the status of your request, you may call 410-966-4034. This is a voice mail number where you may leave a message and your call will be returned. Please note that this is not a toll-free call. To check on the status of a request, you must include the social security number of the record you requested.
