controlled low-voltage electrical stimulation (kun-TROLD loh VOLE-tij ee-LEK-trih-kul STIM-yoo-LAY-shun)

 A technique in which mild electric currents are applied to some areas of the skin by a small power pack connected to two electrodes. Also called transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation and TENS.
