Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR)

Group Astoria maintains a locker of gear which can be rented/loaned out for use by Active Duty and Reserve personnel. If you want to check out Morale Gear from Group Astoria, members need to come to the Administration Department to sign a check out sheet and leave a deposit for item(s) requested. Morale locker equipment may be checked out and in during normal working hours through the Group Administration Office desk located through the administration building main door near the flagpole (right after entering the base). Equipment checked out Friday will be charged only one day rental for the weekend to promote use. Attached is a current Morale Gear list with rental and deposit fees. This list is a guide only as inventory changes through normal wear and tear and new purchases. Thank you for your attention and contact the Morale Officer or Administration if there are any questions about our Morale Gear program.

In order to use any of the Morale Boats you need to have taken and passed the Oregon Boaters Safety Course and have your Oregon Boaters Education Card or copy of temporary card in your possession to boat on the rivers and lakes in Oregon. You can go to the boating safety web site at Boat-ed.com to review and take a practice test, which will lead to taking the actual test for your Oregon Boaters Education Card. In order to check out a Morale Boat you need to meet with DC1 Snow to complete the Safety Orientation Brief for the specific boat you wish to use. Once both are completed then you need to come to Administration to Check Out the boat for your desired amount of days and leave a deposit, which will be refunded when the boat is returned cleaned out and filled with gas. If there are any further questions, please contact the Morale Officer, DC1 Snow or the Administration office.

If you would like to reserve the Gym, Pavilion or Baseball Field for an event or practice, you need to come to Group Astoria Administration or call (ext. 223 or 126) to make the reservation. If the times and dates are available to you (all Coast Guard functions shall have facility usage priority), Morale will add this reservation to the Group/Air Station MWR calendar.
Any organized league or school team desiring to use these facilities must have an active duty Coast Guard person sponsor the group. This sponsor shall be available to pass team members through the main gate. At NO time shall the gate access code be provided to a civilian, dependent, DOD member, or active duty CG not assigned to the Group/Air Station. The sponsor shall remain with the group as long as the group is on the base and they shall be responsible for their group's conduct. If you have any question concerning this policy or the use of Coast Guard facilities contact the Morale Officer at (503) 861-6328.
