CG Housing is mandatory for all enlisted members reporting to Group/Air Station Astoria. There is a shortage of Military Housing in our area; you should be prepared to look on the economy for your housing needs. There is a current 1-3 month wait for Military Housing. You must fill out and submit an Application for Assignment to Military Housing (CG-5267) along with a copy of your BAH/Dependency/Emergency Data sheet (CG-4170) and your PCS orders to the Local Housing Office prior to your arrival. This will place and determine your position on the Housing waiting list by establishing your control date. Once set, the control date does not change, however your placement on the waiting list may change. Members with an earlier control date or Special Needs are assigned housing before you. Before you can rent or purchase a house in the local economy, you will need to obtain a Housing Release (DD-1747) from the Housing Office if no units are available upon arrival.

Coast Guard housing in Astoria consists of 103 units, most completed by 1995. Most of the units are grouped together as duplexes, and all are two-story houses with 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms. All units have single car garages, with some built beneath the house, thus creating a '3rd' floor.

Our Coast Guard neighborhood is within walking distance of Astoria High School, Astoria Middle School, and Capt. Robert Gray Elementary School. There is a fenced-in grass children's play area, and for older children there is a fenced-in playground with assorted equipment including a swing set.

While housing for the Groups’ small boat stations is maintained through the Group, it is individually managed by a designated representative from each one of the stations. For more local information, contact the housing representative from each station.
