Beamlines

A photograph of ATF Beam Line 1, the IFEL section.

From right to left, you see the Inverse Free-Electron Laser pulsed wiggler, followed by a diagnostic box (two pneumatic actuators are seen entering thebox from the left, for the insertion of either a phosphor screen or a HeNe alignment laser injection mirror), followed by a bema line valve, followed by a quadrupole triplet. All the elements of the beam line are mounted on and lock to dual rails for ease of removal and reinstallation as well as precision.
