FDA Proposed Rule to Change the Pregnancy Label

On May 29, 2008, the FDA published a Proposed Rule to change the pregnancy label and has asked for public comment (FR 73:104 (30831-68). (Click here to view the proposed rule).  The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) working with Council plans to submit comments to the FDA during the public comment period which ends August 27, 2008.

In order to help inform this process, we are encouraging the membership to provide input to the PAC.  In order to accomplish this in time to meet the deadline for submission, we ask that you submit your comments to the PAC no later than July 21, 2008.  (Please click here to submit comments to the PAC).

We also encourage you to submit comments on your own behalf.  You may submit comments directly at www.regulations.gov.  Be sure to identify your submission by Docket No. FDA–2006–N–0515 and/or RIN number 0910–AF11.

This is a topic that has long been of interest of the Society. Previous published statements of the PAC on this issue are summarized in a 2007 publication in BDRA (click here to view statement).
