GOV. RITTER ORDERS FLAGS LOWERED TO HONOR FIREFIGHTERS
Gov. Ritter today ordered U.S. and Colorado flags lowered across the state on Friday and Saturday in honor of John Schwartz, 38, and Terry DeVore, 30, who died Tuesday while responding to the fires in Crowley County.
Both men were volunteer firefighters for the Olney Springs Volunteer Fire Department. They also were corrections officers at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility outside of Ordway.
The funeral for Schwartz will be held at the United Methodist Church in Fowler at 3 p.m. Friday. A joint memorial service for Sergeant Terry DeVore, 30, and Schwartz will be held at Crowley County High School at 10 a.m. Saturday.
