U.S. Labor Department Names Kilbane Job Corps
Director
WASHINGTONU.S.
Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco
today announced the appointment of Grace Kilbane as the new National Director
of Job Corps, a Senior Executive Service (SES) position within the U.S.
Department of Labor. Members of the SES are a corps of executives selected for
their leadership qualities who serve in key government positions just below the
top Presidential appointees.
Grace Kilbanes outstanding career in government service
earned her a place among the prestigious corps of Senior Executive Service
members, said DeRocco. Her experience as an administrator, her
knowledge of the national workforce investment system, her leadership abilities
and her compassion make her the ideal choice to lead the Job Corps into the
21st Century.
Prior to her appointment as Job Corps director, Kilbane served as the
Administrator for the Departments Office of Workforce Investment, where
she was responsible for employment and training services provided through
One-Stop Career Centers around the nation. For five years before that, she held
the position of Regional Administrator for the Employment and Training
Administration in Kansas City.
In her new leadership role with Job Corps, Kilbane will administer the
program and its 120 Job Corps centers across the country. The Job Corps program
serves over 65,000 disadvantaged youth, ages 1624, each year. The largely
residential program offers opportunities to secure academic and vocational
credentials and assists students with securing placement in education,
employment or the military upon graduation.
