Does a health plan have to provide a copy of its notice to each dependent receiving coverage under a policy?Answer:No. A health plan satisfies the HIPAA Privacy Rule’s requirements for providing the notice by distributing its notice only to the named insured of a policy under which coverage is provided both to the named insured and his or her dependents. See 45 CFR 164.520(c)(1)(iii).
