Privacy Statement

B. Definition of Personally Identifiable Information
For the purposes of this statement "personally identifiable information" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual who is the subject of the information.

C. Personally Identifiable Information on Casual Visitors Is Not Collected and Retained
Visitors do not have to provide personal information to visit the Colorado State Archives Web Site to read, download or print information. CSA may request personally identifiable information from you in order to provide specific services that you request. Any information collected for that purpose would only be that that is necessary to provide those services, and will be handled as it would be on an in-person visit to a government office.

D. Some Unidentifiable Information Is Routinely Collected
In order to provide new services, design a more customer friendly site and facilitate access to it, CSA uses statistical analysis of traffic on the site. Information that is not personally identifiable such as IP (Internet Protocol) numbers, browser types and versions are collected and used for this purpose. However, the site does not attempt to associate this data with information that is personally identifiable.

E. Personally Identifiable Information Available On Governmental Web Sites
Access to personally identifiable information in public records at state and local levels of government in the State of Colorado is controlled by C.R.S. §24-72-201 et seq. Information that is not confidential and is available during an in-person visit to a government office may be posted for electronic access.

F. Use of Constituent E-Mail Addresses
E-mail addresses obtained as a result of a request to CSA Secure Web Site will not be sold or given to other private companies for marketing purposes. E-mail or other information requests sent to CSA web site may be maintained in order to respond to the request or forward the request to the appropriate agency. 

G. Data Security and Quality
CSA is committed to the security and accuracy of personally identifiable data that is either available from or collected by our web sites, and has taken reasonable precautions to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse or alteration. Any third parties responsible for this information are committed to the same principles, and also are required by contract to follow the same policies and guidelines as CSA in protecting this information. Any individual has the right to have personally identifiable information that is inaccurate corrected.

H. Non State Web Sites
Various web sites may be linked through CSA Web Site. The links that appear on these web pages are solely for the information of a reader of the page. CSA does not endorse any particular viewpoint that appears on any web page that appears as a link. CSA makes every reasonable effort to assure that it does not link directly to web pages that contain obscene, scurrilous, or otherwise objectionable material. I. Online Profiling
Online Profiling is the practice of aggregating information about consumers' preferences and interests, gathered primarily by tracking their movements online, and using the resulting consumer profiles to create targeted content on Web sites. CSA does not conduct or participate in online profiling.

J. Content Pushing
Content pushing is the automatic delivery of applications and information to users and includes the use of broadcast email. Such services will be provided only with the prior authorization of the consumer on an opt-in basis for each specific service and they must be able to remove themselves from that service at any time via the World Wide Web. Opting-in for one service does not constitute opting-in for all services. In order to opt-in the consumer must be informed exactly what service they are requesting, what information is required in order to provide that service, and how to subsequently remove themselves from that service should they choose to do so.

K. Advertising
All forms of advertising are prohibited on CSA Web Site.

Security Statement

For your protection and peace of mind, CSA Web Site uses the most up-to-date secure socket layer (SSL) technology for transmitting your personal  information over the Internet. Your personal information will be transmitted using the industry standard SSL technology. We also authenticate our site by using GeoTrust(TM) security services. This is your assurance that we are who we say we are.

A. What pages are secure?
All pages that request your personal information are encrypted with SSL security.

B. How does the SSL work?
When a browser connects to a site with a GeoTrust secure server ID, the browser automatically uses the ID to verify that it is doing business with a legitimate site. Then, the browser and the server use the key contained within the certificate to encrypt all information that passes between them.

C. How can I tell if the security is working on my browser?
When you are in CSA secure web site, right click on the page and select "properties" or "view frame info" (depending on your browser). Verify that the URL Address starts with https:// (the "s" means you are connected to CSA's secure web site), as opposed to a non-secure page starting with http://.
