Colorado State Archives Trademark Records

A trademark is a work, name, or symbol used to distinguish a corporation's products from their competitors'. Once filed with the state or federal government, the originator of the trademark may legally prevent anyone from using their mark or any very similar mark.  In Colorado, trademarks are filed with the Secretary of State's Office. Trademarks in Colorado are valid for ten years and may be renewed for an additional decade if the mark is still actively being used.  A sampling of the Trademark Recordings that are in the custody of the Colorado State Archives is available through an on-line index.

Trademark searches may be conducted personally at the State Archives or you may request that a
staff member do the search for a fee. Address all inquiries to the Colorado State Archives.

For records after 1975, please contact the Colorado Secretary of State's Office, Commercial Recordings.
