Bishop, September 16, 2008.....The Inyo National Forest, in partnership with the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, is pleased to announce that the authors of the three primary books on the bristlecone pine forest have all agreed to stage a multi-author book signing at the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration at Schulman Grove this Saturday, September 20.
This once-in-a-lifetime gathering of authors of books on the bristlecone pines includes Ron Lanner, author of The Bristlecone Book, Michael Cohen, author of A Garden of Bristlecones, and Mark Schlenz and Dennis Flaherty author and photographer of the latest bristlecone book, A Day in the Bristlecone Pine Forest. All three books will be available for purchase at Schulman Grove.
The authors will be available to discuss and sign their books from 11:00 to 3:00 on Saturday. This book signing is being held in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, for which the ceremonies will begin at 1:00 PM. The celebration will include speakers, presentations, music, light refreshments, and announcements about future plans for the area, as well as fund-raising efforts to replace the much beloved visitor center which was destroyed by fire on September 4.
