Welcome Aboard! The staff and crew of Station New Haven are anxious to acquaint you with our mission areas and operational capabilities, or to answer any questions you may have about our station and the U. S. Coast Guard. Semper Paratus - Always Ready to selflessly serve the needs of the public by assisting the boating public, enforcing federal law, protecting our environment, and defending our national interests.

Area of Responsibility

The area of responsibility (AOR) for Station New Haven consists of almost 2/3 of Long Island Sound,
extending from Black Rock Harbor to Clinton Harbor on the Connecticut shoreline and from Mattituck Inlet to approximately 2nm East of Mt. Sinai Harbor on the Long Island shore.

Our Workload

With the help of the Auxiliary and local resources, we average 150-200 search and rescue (SAR) cases
and conduct approximately 200-300 law enforcement boardings annually. In addition, we routinely
conduct joint operations with the U.S. Customs Service, Connecticut Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP), and local municipalities. The majority of our work takes place in the spring, summer,
and fall months with most of the local boating traffic out of the water for the winter.
