Sugar
Pine Railroad Grade (3 miles)
This gentle three mile
(one way) "Strawberry" branch parallels the
South Fork of the Stanislaus River and overlays the
historic Sugar Pine Railroad System. Access the trail
from either Old Strawberry Road or the bridge at Fraser
Flat Campground.
Arrange to be picked up at one end and your trip is
either all a gentle uphill or a gentle downhill. Or,
start at Fraser Flat, bike uphill to Strawberry and stop
for lunch at a local restaurant. Then, enjoy the downhill
cruise home. Great for families. |

Gooseberry-Crabtree
Trail
(15 miles, gravel and dirt roads) This
difficult trail gains 2,000 feet of elevation in about 7
miles. You will be rewarded with spectacular vistas. The
route can be biked as a 15 mile loop, from Crabtree to
Gooseberry (or vice-versa) or as a one-way journey of any
length. Numerous spur trails offer additional options.
You can begin at either trail-head, both located on Dodge
Ridge Road. |
