Summit Ranger District

Responsibilities

1. Assisting Forest Service staff in providing an enjoyable and memorable experience to the public.

2. Provide information and assistance to campground visitors.

3. Perform light maintenance and cleaning duties such as: litter pick up, cleaning out fire rings, painting, sweeping, cleaning and stocking supplies in the toilet buildings and making emergency minor repairs.

4. Participating in interpretive programs (optional) and maintaining message boards.

Benefits of being a Campground Host

Campground hosts are provided with a free campsite including the amenities listed above. Hosts will be reimbursed for their travel time to and from their duty location at the beginning of the term and the end, this amount will not exceed $150.00. All training for the host program will be provided by the Forest Service.

Who would make a good campground host?

A campground host could be a single person or a couple. If you enjoy the outdoors, camping and helping others this would be the job for you. Campground hosts come in all different ages and backgrounds. Hosts must be at least 18 years of age and supply their own camper, motor home, etc.
