Highway 108
Snowmobile Access to Temporarily Close
Sonora, CA (March 17, 2008) ... The Forest Service today announced
that beginning March 24th through March 28, CalTrans will start its normal
seasonal snow plowing on Highway 108.
During the time required for this snow plowing operation, Highway 108 will be
temporarily closed to all vehicles, including snowmobiles, from the Sno-Park
gate to Sonora Pass. Once the road is open to Eagle Meadow Road (5N01),
snowmobiles will be able to access riding opportunities into the Eagle Meadow
area, while snow conditions allow. Highway 108 between Eagle Meadow Road and
Sonora Pass will remain temporarily closed to all vehicles while CalTrans
continues plowing to Kennedy Meadows.
The main parking area and restrooms at the Sno-Park will remain open until
May 30th. For more information on snowmobile opportunities contact the Summit
Ranger District at 209-965-3434.
