African American Women Writers of the 19th Century
A digital collection of published books and pamphlets written by 19th and early
20th century African American women, originals of which are in the Schomburg
Center for Research on Black Culture. The entire database is searchable by key
word. Part of Digital Schomburg, one of the New York Public Library Digital Library
Collections.
The American Short Story: A Selective Chronology
Covers the years from the early 18th to the late 19th century. Includes a bibliography
of critical works on the short story as a literary form.
The Electronic Archives for Teaching the American Literatures
Designed for teachers of American literature, but potentially useful
to college and university students and reference librarians as
well, this web site contains
essays, bibliographies, syllabi and “other resources for teaching the
multiple literatures of the United States”. The Archives is created and
maintained by Georgetown University’s Center for Electronic Projects
in American Culture Studies in affiliation with the University’s American
Studies Program and English Department.
Ethnic American Literature
Contains an extensive list of links to resources for the study of ethnic American
literature.
Research Guide to Ethnicity and Identity in Literature
Contains links to Internet resources devoted to ethnic American literature; extensive
lists of reference books, Library of Congress subject headings, and periodicals
pertinent to research in American ethnic literature. One of several research
guides and bibliographies prepared by the Ruth A. Haas Library
