Advancing the Federal Government as a Model Employer (continued)
Although people with disabilities have much to offer in the workplace, federal managers (employers) have yet to fully tap this pool of diverse, qualify and eager job seekers. People with disabilities continue to be underemployed and undervalued as workers -- even though they make dedicated and creative employees whose professional contributions and commitment are by no means less than their counterparts without disabilities.
While the federal workplace has led the way in the employment of people with disabilities, there is a need for more concerted effort and strategic planning to aggressively pursue the goal of increasing the employment of people with disabilities, thereby, positioning the federal government as a model employer.
