GOV. RITTER APPLAUDS HIGHER-ED CONSTRUCTION LIST, URGES CCHE ADOPTION
Gov. Bill Ritter today applauded the prospects for 13 top-priority construction projects to be considered Friday by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. Funding for the projects comes from an agreement Gov. Ritter helped engineer to save the Auraria Campus Science Building when it was in jeopardy. The projects, totaling approximately $200 million, would be paid for by certificates of participation backed by federal mineral lease revenues.
"I am very pleased to see this list go to CCHE for consideration at its meeting on Friday," Gov. Ritter said. "Two weeks ago we announced a plan to utilize FML dollars to preserve and continue funding for the Science Building at the Auraria campus. Today, as a result, we have made significant progress on the Science Building and other high-priority projects at higher-ed campuses around Colorado.
"Our future very much rests with the quality of our educational system, including the infrastructure and facilities at our institutions of higher learning, and I urge quick approval by CCHE."
