EPA has taken many actions to help remove or ease regulatory contraints that may affect gasoline supply. These actions include winter summer transition actions (blendstock accounting rulemaking, previously certified gasoline rulemaking, modification of tank turnover testing tolerance), VOC adjustment rule for ethanol RFG in Chicago and Milwaukee, and others.
- Frequent Questions on state and local clean fuel programs
Information on why some states have adopted fuel programs that are different than federal requirements for gasoline. Roughly 15 states have adopted their own clean fuel programs for part or all of the state, which makes up nine different kinds of fuels. The federal programs (RFG, and low RVP programs for conventional gasoline) make up six different kinds of fuel. Most programs are in effect for only part of the year and are providing cleaner air to millions of people than would otherwise occur.
