  • Office of Rural Policy Report to the Governor (pdf)
    The Office of Rural Policy was created by the Governor in 2004 through Executive Order to focus on the developing policies that address the unique challenges faced by rural Oregon. Due to lack of funding from the state legislature, the office was closed in April 2008. This report is the final report from the Director and Rural Policy Advisory Committee.

The Office of the Governor will fully comply with the Oregon Public Records Law and will respond to public record requests as soon as practicable and without unreasonable delay, in the manner described below.  ORS 192.440(7) requires every public body to make available to the public a written procedure for making public record requests.

  • Sustainable Oregon
    In June 2003, the Governor issued an Executive Order on Sustainability directing state agencies to incorporate sustainability into their decision making and strategic planning. The Governor has directed his Sustainability Board to develop cooperative programs with government, non-profit entities and private industry to achieve sustainable objectives. The Governor is also working with his sustainability advisor to develop a renewable energy plan for the state and to coordinate Oregon´s participation in the West Coast Global Warming Initiative.

  • The Oregon Commemorative Quarter
    Every U.S. state will be honored with a design on the reverse side of the U.S. quarter dollar, and Oregon is now closer to knowing what its design will look like. The Governor will approve and recommend the final design to the United States Mint in 2004.

  • Industrial Lands Taskforce Report
    In February 2003 Governor Kulongoski established the Industrial Lands Task Force to address a widely held perception that many of the fastest-growing and economically critical areas of the state have not maintained an adequate supply of industrial lands to meet the needs of a growing and prosperous state.

  • Fixing PERS
    HB 2003 is intended to reform the PERS system for the future and correct errors of the past in a defensible and responsible way that generates significant savings, protects employee´s accrued benefits and provides a fair and adequate pension to our workforce.
