The Advocate's Office is established as part of the Office of the Governor. The position of the Advocate is created in statute and is a cabinet level position within the Office of the Governor. The Advocate is appointed by the Governor and serves as a policy adviser to the Governor on issues related to minority, women and emerging small business. The Advocate's most important job is to create access to contracting opportunities for certified firms.
