Purpose

Civil Rights and Diversity Division

The NIST Civil Rights and Diversity Office provides advice and develops policies for the Director in carrying out responsibilities relative to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967; The Rehabilitation Act of 1973; as well as other laws, Executive Orders and regulatory guidelines affecting affirmative employment and non-discrimination. Efforts include the processing and adjudicating of Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) Complaints, outreach activities; and developing, administering and coordinating the Affirmative Employment Program for minorities, women, disabled veterans, and people with disabilities.
