PUBLIC FORUM TO EXPLORE LEGAL AND
TECHNOLOGY ISSUES FOR GLOBAL ELECTRONIC COMMERCE

U.S. Secretary of Commerce William M. Daley will present the keynote
address at the opening session of the "Certificate Authorities and Digital
Signatures: Enhancing Global Electronic Commerce" public forum. The forum also will
feature representatives from the private sector, states, non-profit organizations,
industry associations and other national and international entities who will describe the
wide variety of efforts under way to ensure global electronic commerce, with particular
emphasis on how certificate authorities and digital signatures will play a role. The forum
is sponsored by the Department of Commerce and organized by the Technology Administration
for the benefit of all federal agencies. Other presenters and panel members will
discuss the evolving U.S. framework for certificate authorities and use of digital
signatures, the emerging industry of certificate authorities, technology for
authentication and international perspectives. |
