Event: The Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST) will brief the media on the status of the agency’s ongoing federal technical investigation of the Feb. 20, 2003, fire and building collapse at The Station nightclub in W. Warwick, R.I.

The briefing also will detail how persons may provide the investigation team with
needed information about The Station nightclub, its operations and emergency
procedures, and the events in the building on the night of Feb. 20, 2003.

The overall goal of this investigation, and all NIST investigations conducted
under the National Construction Safety Team (NCST) Act, is to recommend
improvements in the way people design, construct, maintain and use buildings in
order to increase both occupant safety and structural integrity.

Sign-In: For security reasons, all media—including production crew members—must have proper credentials (a news media badge with photo or a photo ID with a business card) to enter the briefing room.
