Volunteer at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site
You can learn new skills, teach others, stay active and involved. Volunteers at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace help preserve and maintain the diverse cultural and historical resources of the park for today's visitors, as well as helping to preserve the same resources for future generations. Volunteers can play a vital role in making sure visitors enjoy their experience in the park by helping out. The parks has several areas where volunteers can make a different in the park's operation and visitors satisfaction:
- Interpretation - staff information desk, greeting visitors, answering questions.
- Living History Interpretation - assist with special interpretive programs and events throughout the year (early American crafts and demonstrations).
- Gardener - care for the historical garden at Lincoln Boyhood Home.
- Library Volunteer - assist with park's books, slides and pictures collections.
Volunteer opportunities at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace are as diverse as the cultural and historical resources of the park.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
- Special! Someone with a green thumb to help in the park's garden at Knob Creek during the spring and summer months.
- Interpretation - staff information desk in Visitor Center.

Did You Know?
Abraham Lincoln is buried in Springfield, Illinois in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. With the exception of Robert Todd, who was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Mary Todd, and the Lincoln children are buried in Springfield as well.
