| Peer Review |

The purpose of peer review is to assure continuing competence of licensees who perform attestation and compilation services. Licensees who perform attest and/or compilation services are required to participate in a Board approved peer review program.
Notice to Firms:
ORS 673.010 requires that peer review be conducted by a licensed CPA or a Public Accountant licensed in Oregon. In order to comply with the statute, peer reviewers may apply for authorization to practice through substantial equivalency.
Attestation and compilation services may only be performed by a firm that is registered with the Board. Sole practitioners who perform these services are also required to register as a firm. Business organizations that engage in any level of financial reporting are required to notify the Board within 21 days of accepting the engagement that will cause the business organization to participate in a peer review program and must comply with the peer review process when scheduled. Registered firms that perform only SSARS 8 compilations are not required to participate in a peer review program; however, SSARS 8 reports prepared by licensees who are otherwise required to participate in a peer review program shall be included in that peer review.
A licensee who:
(1) resides outside of Oregon,
(2) does not have an office in Oregon and
(3) does not perform attest or compilation services for Oregon clients
does not need to meet the peer review requirement. However, if the licensee resides, or has an office in Oregon and performs attest or compilation services, even though those services are not performed for Oregon clients, the licensee must meet the peer review requirement. The following peer review programs currently have been approved by the Board:
