Gettysburg National Military Park welcomes public input regarding park operations and proposals. Here you will find your chance for comments on proposed changes to the processes of park planning and management.


GETTYSBURG MUSEUM FEE PROPOSAL- August 28, 2008

The National Park Service (NPS) and the Gettysburg Foundation are asking for public comment on a proposal to collect a single admission fee to all the venues at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. The single admission charge would cover the museum exhibits, the “New Birth of Freedom” film, and the restored Cyclorama Painting. The fee would be collected by the Foundation, to cover the cost of operations of the museum facility. Admission to all other portions of the Museum/Visitor Center complex would remain free, as would admission to the park itself. Please click on the links below to review this proposal.

Major General George Gordon Meade, commander of the Union "Army of the Potomac" at the Battle of Gettysburg, was assigned to command the army just three days before the battle. He was honored in 1896 with an equestrian statue at Gettysburg National Military Park.
